The Kaiserstejnsky palace got a Baroque reconstruction initiated by
Sir Kaiserstejn but completed by Petr Radecky (1699–1720). In the year
1859 a Monument of marshal Radecký was built on the square in front. Therefore,
it was named until 1918 after the famous marshal.
The hotelier Václav Petzold bought 1866 the palace and opened an exclusive
restaurant. So for the next hundred years it was called „U Petzoldů“ (with
Petzold.). Once the famous opera singer Emmy Destinn, a partner of Enrico
Caruso, rented an apartment here for four years (1904 - 1908).
The new era of total reconstruction began under the architects Zdeněk Pokorný and Jaroslav Bělský in 1977. Since 1981 the Kaiserstejnsky palace is registered as an UNESCO heritage site.
Restitution procedures were completed in 1997 and the palace now returned to its original owners.
